Did I already say that I love Siracusa!
Epic, beautiful, diversified… you will never get bored.
I love the waves how they hit the rocks protcting the city walls.
The sunrise on my left already to high, I tried to avoid shooting into the brightest light. The sun was following me during my walk from east side of Ortiglia to the south and western part of the small isle. This was my starting point 🙂

Isola Bella (Sicilian: Ìsula Bedda)

…is a small island near Taormina, Sicily, southern Italy.
Also known as ‘The Pearl of the Ionian Sea’, it is located within a small bay on the Ionian Sea.

To find a spot where you can eliminate the hundreds of tourists and get a perspective unknown to the regular internet sites I needed some time… but at the end you always find something new if you look long enough. The children were resting and chilling at the beach and didn’t miss me 😉

Isola Bella – The Pearl of the Ionian Sea

Sometimes, if the bag you are carrying is pulling you down, lay down… you will find rest new smells and a joyful new perspective! The bag with tripod, lenses and all other stuff weighs more or less 10kg. If you take it the positive way, it is pure training hiking with your camera gear!
Carrying only a little smartphone will get you out of shape and training 🙂

Ruins at Letojanni Beach

I thought I could walk to Taormina by feet and it turned out an adventure.
The train trails and the highway were stopping me to go a more, lets say walking route.
I did not want to go back and take another route, so the only way was going forward!
The trains passing at my right side, on the left side the water and in front of me only rocks. Climbing was the only choice and the decision was the best one.
I would have never seen this ruins right beside the water…
